What is CSV Lombardia Sud?

CSV Lombardia Sud – the Volunteer Service Centre of Southern Lombardy – is a non-profit Voluntary Services Organisation founded in 1998 that supports local voluntary organisations by providing information, communication, training, promotion, and consultancy services.

CSV Lombardia Sud is an organisation of organisations that promotes the social significance of volunteering, and how volunteering can be a path towards solidarity, diversity, and being active in one’s community.

Through its many activities for the local community – such as the BambInFestival and the Festival of Human Rights – CSV Lombardia Sud promotes active citizenship and one’s responsibility in the life and services of the local community. We also work towards protecting and promoting human rights, as well as collaboration between people, hospitality and the acceptance and the value of diversity.

CSV Lombardia Sud also works towards getting more and more young people involved in social and volunteering activities by promoting projects with schools and the Universal Civil Service.

What does it mean to volunteer?

Volunteering is generally considered a selfless gesture to promote goodwill and improve the quality of life in one’s community. There is no financial gain to volunteering, but most people find it rewarding: it increases self-esteem and helps foster empathy. 

Volunteering is great for gaining new skills, socialising, or just having fun! In a way, volunteering has as many positive benefits for the volunteer as for the people or the community it helps.
