DO YOU NEED A DOCTOR?
If you need a doctor during your stay in Pavia, you can go to a temporary general practitioner, available for both European and non-European citizens.
IF YOU ARE A EUROPEAN CITIZEN:
You can choose a general practitioner registered in the specific list available both at the offices of the Health Protection Agency [Agenzia di Tutela della Salute] (ATS) in Pavia, and online on the page dedicated to the family doctor and pediatrician (go to the left where it says "Search for a doctor" [Cercare medico], click on "Municipality" [Comune] and choose "Pavia").
Once the doctor has been identified, an appointment must be made by calling the indicated phone number and/or by directly going to the clinic at the listed timetables, showing the European Health Card and an identity document.
IF YOU ARE A NON-EU CITIZEN:
You will need to go to the ATS to draw up an Italian health insurance contract.

In case of extreme necessity, you can go to the Emergency Room [Pronto Soccorso] of the Policlinico San Matteo hospital in Pavia. But be careful: going to the emergency room without a valid reason could result in the charge of the received treatment.
The San Matteo Emergency Room is located in the buildings of the New DEA Hospital [Nuovo Ospedale DEA], whose entrance is in Strada Privata Campeggi.
